Our History
Carmen founded Perfect Balance Nutrition in 2006 after working in the public health sector for eight years. She recognised a need for clinical dietitians in private practice to work with patients in an ongoing, relational way. Carmen convinced her mentor, Jillian Hawker to join her, along with another colleague and Perfect Balance Nutrition was born.
Our dietitians will provide you with the latest evidence based advice and support for your needs.
Carmen Bouchier, Director, APD
Carmen’s an Accredited Practising Dietitian, graduating from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in 1999. She worked extensively as a Clinical Dietitian in Hospitals across South Africa and Australia before founding Perfect Balance Nutrition.
She’s passionate about viewing each person as a whole; designing and applying a meal plan to fit the ups and the downs of your life. Perfect balance doesn’t mean that life is perfect, and we need to be flexible as we achieve and maintain good health.
Carmen’s fields of interest include sports nutrition. She worked for over ten years as a qualified fitness and aerobics instructor, giving her a unique understanding and insight into the role of nutrition in all aspects of sports, strength training, and body image.
Carmen mentors the dietitians in her practice in her own unique way to produce consistent, positive outcomes and excellence in patient care.
“I love being able to show people that what they previously thought was impossible is not only possible, but also achievable and sustainable in the long term. I focus on what they can do. That empowers them to do more and work on eradicating the negative thought patterns that plague people around food, nutrition, and body image.”
Anja Kruger, APD
Anja is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who has completed a Masters of Dietetics at Monash University.
Anja works across all aspects of dietetics and has a particular interest in gastrointestinal issues including IBS, FODMAP, and food intolerances. Anja believes that nourishing our bodies with food plays a role in all areas of health not just physical, but also emotional, social, intellectual, and environmental. Anja takes all these aspects into account to provide a holistic approach to solving nutrition problems and achieving your goals.
“Being a dietitian is incredibly rewarding because it allows me to make a positive impact on people’s lives every day through empowering individuals to take control of their health with proper nutrition and lifestyle choices.”
Vinitha Rodwell, APD
Vinitha is an Accredited Practising Dietitian. Vinitha graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2013. She works across all aspects of dietetics, with a particular interest in mental health and disordered eating. Vinitha is passionate about employing a non-diet approach and believes in a holistic view of health and nutrition. She prides herself on providing evidence-based practice and promotes an empathetic approach in her dietetic care.
“I love helping people feel empowered to make the best choices for their lifestyle, rather than feeling restricted and being led by ‘rules’. There is so much joy that comes with food and it is my passion to help others to rewrite their narrative around diet and nutrition, to enable them to find that joy again.”
